Re: Sony Trinitron TVs

Brenda Posted Aug 31, 2010, in response to:anonymous

My Sony Trinitron Wega of 6 yrs olds was turning off right after I turned it on, so I thought it was dead forever. I called 2 different repair shops. The first one said that it might cost a couple of hundred dollars and I might want to put that money into another set. The second shop told me that this tv was the last of the good tv's made and it would be worth repairing. He said the newer flat screens were only lasting 3 to 5 yrs. Well, I didn't know what to do. I didn't have the money for a new set and I hated putting money into this set. So I googled the problem and came to this site and read about the hair dryer trick. Well, to my amazement it worked after 2 clicks of turning the power button on and off and holding the dryer on the back right side. I can't believe this, how did anyone figure this out. Whoever you are, I want to thank you so much. I have been laid off for 18 months and my husband had hernia surgery this past Friday and we didn't have the money for a new set or for repairs on this one. You made my day with this knowledge!!!! We have been a week without our tv and so glad we have it back now. Thanks again! Brenda
