Any camcorder that chews a tape up can only do it because (1) the actual cassette inserted was faulty by it internally sticking, or (2) the camcorders "take up" drive spindle not turning properly which could be due to it being contaminated by tape dust and caused possibly by using other than JVC, Panasonic or Fuji tapes, as its known in service circles that the use of tapes like Maxell etc in JVC equipment can cause these type of problems. If of course these latter brands havent been used then the tape drive will have to be investigated, but any tape that is inserted should first of all always be wound fully on then back again before trying to record on it, as this will help eliminate any possible tendencies for it sticking.
