I BOUGHT A USED MAVICA CD1000 WHICH BORE THE MESSAGE C:1301 DISK ERROR. IT IS PUR LIES. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE GEARS THAT DRIVE THE CD UNIT GET CHEWEDUP AND STOP TURNING THE DRIVE. I TOOK MY UNIT TO SONY IN MONTREAL, CANADA AND THEY HAD THE BOLD AUDACITY TO ASK ME $1024.00 TOREPAIR THE UNIT. WAITING FOR SOME INFORMATION TO ARRIVE, THEN I TAKE THEM TO COURT. IT IS ABSOLOTELY AN INFERIOR PRODUCT BY DESIGN. MEANTIME IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN GET THE GEARS THAT DRIVE THE CD CONTACT ME PLEASE.

If there are so many camera's with the same error problem it looks like the cmera has a design defect. Mine has been in repair for 2 times and still has the problem aftere few pictures taken. Would it be possible to get Sony's attention and have a free repair set up for all these camera's. Something as a recall of all the defective CD-1000 camera's.

I don't know where to buy the gears, but I may be able to help you out. Did you see worn out gears yourself, or is this just what they told you is wrong? I have repaired several of the CD1000 cameras myself, and it has never been a matter of worn out gears, but rather a small metal arm that gets bent and no longer drives the laser back and forth correctly. Rather than fix this metal arm, most places would rather replace the assembly, which is when it gets expensive. Feel free to email me if you'd like to have me repair yours. Most of the time, it only costs $50 US, plus shipping
