Re: JVC service or questions
Bob W - 18th May 2004 22:58
I have a JVC digital video camera, Model GR-D90u. It was working fine as far as I know. I had just downloaded pix onto my laptop. I went down to film some video and the camera was dead. I changed batteries, still dead, and tried a/c power, still dead. Batteries are good, adaptor puts out power. I walked thru a casino in Vegas. Could the slots and other electrical items have caused a problem? Is there a reset or fuse? Thanks, Bob

Same Digital Mini-Camcorder JVC Model GR-D90U - - I have pretty much the same problem. When I plug in the AC adapter the charge/power lights up, but the camera is dead, and on top of that there is a tape cartridge stuck in the half-way eject phase. The tape cartridge side is open and I can't get the camera to do anything.
Any suggestions? anybody?

Rachel - 21st Jun 2005 3:23 Did anyone find a solution to this problem. My camera just quit on me. I had used it for 2 hours today and it had no apparent trauma. Is it possible that it overheated? No power when using a charged battery or the plug in.
Thanks.

Jeremy - 9th Oct 2005 18:40 I have the same problem with the same model. NOONE seems to be able to give any information at all. The only thing I found is that JVC makes a terrible camcorder.

Kai - 5th May 2006 23:19 I too have the same problem

Sent this thing to JVC twice for repairs. Now having whole new problem - which I'm learning is not uncommon to other JVC camcorders of this type. CONDENSATION, OPERATION PAUSED - - PLEASE WAIT.
This device has been so diappointing to us; we've missed capturing so many opportunities and events with our kids fotting around with this piece if junk - - - JVC has seen the last $ ever from me.

I have the same problem with my jvc. Did you ever fix the CONDENSATION problem because I'm about to go off the deep end. Camera will not work. Can you help?

Alex - 1st Nov 2005 20:39 I have the same camera with the same problem out of warranty and am looking to buy a new camera so i figured i would rip it to shreds to find a solution... Still poking around in there and nothing. I'm thinking of changing some of the components on the power circuit but there's no physical markings or anything.
If I come across anything I will post it here... but as far as i know theres nothing that can be done but a professional repair or just plain replacing the unit.

has anyone figured this power issue out as of yet. Apparently ours is dead with a tape stuck in it. I would really like to save that tape?
Any suggestions to salvage the tape I would love, because apparently the power issue doesn't have a solution.
Thanks1

Mad Mikey7 - 20th Nov 2006 19:59 Yes, power issues seem to be directly related to the fuse marked F6001. It is the main internal fuse but splits to two others that might be the culprit. I have dismembered mine to find nothing out of the ordinary. I checked the battery and found it to still be good. Leave it to me to look over the obvious... the fuse!! you should be able to find a replacement for under $10 (radio shack or comp usa? ) and put it in yourself if you feel bold and think you can seperate the unit from it's plastic cage. I couldn't tell you why these units seem to be so notorious for shorting their fuses, but I can tell you that I probably overwhelmed mine when I attempted to fuse a mic jack on the av/s-video circuit board...... Won't try that again. Good luck everybody
