I had a disk error and tried formatting, everything. Nothing worked. Can you please give me details of how you attached the ribbon. I took the back off of my FD85 and a large ribbon was disconnected.

  that wide ribbon has a fitting on one end. it\'s male or female depending on which end of the ribbon it\'s on, but a similar male or female complementary fitting should be on a board next to where you found the ribbon hanging. Check to see if there is a piece attached to the fitting that seems to swing or move: that\'s a locking piece and once you insert the ribbon you lock in the connection by pressing the locking piece inward. Otherwise the fitting may be a simple press fit.
