alienware problems

Problems with Area51m laptop

I to have experienced problems with my alienware and am unsattisfied with customer support. it cost me £2200 to purchase my laptop and sinse the day of purchase have experienced nothing but dropouts and lockups during gameplay even with all the updates they can provide for display drivers e.t.c. The initial response for technical support was promising as they took the machine back and reintergrated it but told me they would test the games i sent back with the unit to ensure the problems were gone. i recieved the machine back with no games installed and the problems persisted as before. This is still occurring today 20 months after purchase after 4 display driver updates. To add to the problem the dvd drive is now non-existent according to the windows and the bios and the cd burner which had to be replaced after 6months due to failure is now playing up again failing to recognise some game disks until the system is turned on and off again. i dont ever remember being able to get through to a technical support rep without having to hang on the phone for half hour waiting as all the reps are busy all of the time. which to me means a lot of other people have problems to. They also boast you will allways have 24/7 technical support but once your warranty has expired they will tell you they are no longer able to instruct you on making changes to your system as your warranty has expired. Basically i would encourage anyone to think twice about purchasing what is an overpriced over exagerated box of tricks that really speaking is just a high end cpu in a pretty painted box. I should also add that these problems have all been with U.K Alienware.

I too have an Area 51 laptop. I spent hours upon hours on the phone with a representative, taking my computer apart, putting it back together and just restoring it to factory defaults with the problems still occuring that I called for originally. 18 months after purchase and the service plan is no longer active I am pushed to the back burner if I'm even responded to. I sent an e-mail and was told I'd get a response within 24 hours. 3 days later I get a response saying that they can't do anything. If they would fix the damn problems I'd be happy, although I'd never buy alienware again.
