Re: JVC repair assistance

melvy_garcia Posted Sep 25, 2004, in response to:Stacy Sample

I am having trouble getting a picture on my camcorder (jvc GR-D70U). When I turn it on I only see black through the lens and/or through the screen. It looks like the cap is still on the lens. I can not understand what is going on. I have had it for a little over a year and have already had to have it fixed. I thought I could get some advise from someone in hopes that it is a simple something that I am doing wrong and not an expensive problem that I have to get fixed. PLEASE HELP

I am having problems with my JVC GR-D33U camera. It plays tapes fine but it will not record and the viewer only displays a black screen. Is this something I can fix, I am pretty handy with electronics. I just don't want to send it to a repair center and have to pay more then the camera is actually worth. Thanks for any help. -Justin

I HAVE THE EXACT PROBLEM. I JUST DISCOVERED THIS TODAY AFTER HAVING THIS CAMERA FOR ABOUT A YEAR. I HAVENT USED IT IN ALMOST THAT TIME. I ONLY USED IT ABOUT THREE TIMES IN MY HOME.

I have exactly the same symptoms with my JVC GR-D30 that I have had for exactly 1 year. No image on the screen or the viewfinder and a flashing "lens cap" message at power up. It records audio but no video. Playback of a previously recorded tape works fine. If anyone has the answer please advize.

Did you ever receive an answer to your problem? I have the same problem with the same model camcorder.
