Re: JVC repair assistance

I am having trouble getting a picture on my camcorder (GR-D70U). When I turn it on I only see black through the lens and/or through the screen. It looks like the cap is still on the lens. I can not understand what is going on. I have had it for a little over a year and have already had to have it fixed. I thought I could get some advise from someone in hopes that it is a simple something that I am doing wrong and not an expensive problem that I have to get fixed.
PLEASE HELP

I am having the same problem with the same model GR-D70u. The screem shows the lens cap on when it is not. What did you find out?

I am having the same problem with my camera JVC Digital Video Camera Model GR-D70U I've only had it for a little over a year and when I open the LCD screen to take pictures or film the screen is very dark. I was wondering if you got yours fixed, if so how much did it cost you and who fixed it.. Thank You

When I turn my video camera on to record it states in the view finder that the lens cap is still on even though it is off. When you turn it on the screen lights up but quickly turns off stating about the lens cap. When turned off the screen lights up blue for a few short seconds then goes off. We can play back videos that have been recorded but can not record anything but sound. We have tried unsuccessful reading the book and trying to figure it out but have had nothing but bad luck. Could you please tell me what the problem is and help me correct it. Thank you!

No we haven`t had it repaired yet, we are hoping to solve the problem ourselves but probally will have to take it to get repaired! We have only had it for about a year also and really haven`t used it very much. As a matter of fact we only have taken 4 tapes so far. With a new grandson we are wanting to get so movies.

Yes I can confirm that the problem with your camera is a common problem that affects a number of JVC models of camcorders. The fault is the main CCD (Charge coupled device)this is the main imagining unit that sits at the back of the lens, when replaced you will have to setup the camera such as flangeback adjustments (back focus),image white balance etc.Hope info helps kind regards John Williams www.jvsvisual.com

Sorry I forgot to mention about repair costs to JVC camcorders with CCD failure (fault says remove lens cap) we charge a fix fee of £80.00 inc parts this however excludes carriage charges.
