Re: Re: My Solution! Re: SONY Mavica C:13:01 ERROR (for MVC-CDxxx

Hi, First thing.... Don't Panic! just take everything slow and think about what you're doing and it will be a snap. The ribbon cables (flex cable) are basically cables with exposed wire edge on one end.. They are basically pushed snugly into a white (black?) connector that is soldered onto the board. Basic removal is to grab the ribbon near the connector and very gently pull it out (needle nose can help get a constant force across the whole cable, but you should take care not to rip the ribbon.) here's a picture or two to show what the ends of that cable look like: http://www.aplusseller.com/pics/DellParts/Ribbon_Cable/CPiA/CPiA.JPG (Far left is what the ribbon looks like when it's removed from the socket) In some circuits, the cable is 'locked' into the connector by means of some tabs or something on the socket, but from my memory, none of the cables in the Mavica are this way. As for Molex: basically if there are two connectors (one on the circuit board and one on the wire side), you just gently pry these apart.. probably with a small screwdriver. Most of the molex connections in the camera are used when connecting independant wires (not a ribbon connector) to the circuit board... although thinking back, there may be one or two ribbon cables that have a connector on both sides. This should be pretty easy to see, as there will be two white (black? orange?) things. Here's a picture of a typical molex: http://www.robotroom.com/Tach2Connector.jpg in this case, you don't want to remove the individaul wires, but just unplug one connector from the other. Let me know if you need more info, and perhaps i can find some more detailed pictures!! Good Luck

Thank you, for all your help. But I totally lost it. Now I have to take the camera apart again. I did something wrong. Not that you advice wasn't much needed and right on time. I paniced. Now the camera is on, but the button I press to take pictures moves me thru options. And . . . now it saying "No Disc". So, I must have put the ribbons in wrong or I damaged it. I think I need a real time walk thru or I need pictures. I never thought I needed to see pictures to read a book. 1st time for everything, huh. Still in desperate need of your help. Paula Do you have any advice that might help me thru this?
