Re: Canon XM-3, GL-3, XL2 new camcorders

marko Posted Dec 06, 2004, in response to:Admin

The XL2 doesn't have a true 16:9, oh no! It uses three times 800 000 pixel CCD, and chopes the image top and bottom for 16:9 and sides for 4:3. It never uses the max amount of pixels available, but at least it gives you plenty of res even though it chops it a bit. This camera is a winner... the best your money can buy under 10k. There's nothing else around, really. The XL2 gives stunning results, rich colours, crisp image and great/easy control. It's so much fun to use it... I just got one from NZ, for AUD$5500. It's worth it, considering how much they ask for it here in Sydney (or anywhere else in Australia). cheers, Marko
