Re[2]: JVC GR - DVL300

Wol Posted May 24, 2005, in response to:Juan Carrera

I bought a GR-D50EK in the UK May 2003, by March 2005, not having used the camera for about 6 months, the thing just packed up on me. First problem was playing an existing recording, seriously de-graded picture with lots of noise, then got a E04 and chewed up tape. Subsequently the camera starts working fine, then deteriorates, everything slows to a stop, zoom won't work, recording or playback stops, and switching off does nothing (power on light stays on). Frequent E04 messages with tapes getting stuck and no sound on recordings. I'm just about to try the severe blow to the side of the camera, unless anyone can give me good reason not to.

I am guessing here but from what you write I get the feeling the first recording you tried to playback may have been stored in the cam for the 6 months and failed when you went to use it by getting eaten and having poor playback. If I am correct that may have been what lead up to your current problems (except for any zooming issues you have). IF the tape was stored and got stuck in side or stuck to internal parts and then you try to use it...they may have caused complications mechanically and/or material residue from the damaged tape could have messed up the drum. This is just a guess but that is what I get from how you explained your current situation. anyway if I am wrong, I just guessing anyway.
