I have the same "safeguard mode" problem with the tape in... won't eject... took the unit to the only real family vacation we have left and it was so frustrating to have a camera that wouldn't let me load a tape.

My son wanted to rip the tape out but I told him that would break the camera for sure.

If the heads need cleaning, can I do it? I was good at it on other devices. This may be a moot point if I can't get the darn tape out.
