I have the same model of Canon camcorder and am encountering the same problem - cannot rewind or fast forward for more than 3 seconds - tape gets damaged and the eject tape message appears. If anybody knows what the problem might be I would also be obliged to know. As for the suggestion that it might be the brand of tape being used this sounds like fobbing off talk to me ( I use JVC ). Also can anybody tell me the voltage and number of the button cell fitted behind the battery.
