Never Buy any Panasonic Digital Camera or Camcorder

Davy Posted Oct 11, 2005

I advice to all the buyers , not to buy any panasonic new camcorder or camera like NV-MX500 , NV-GS400 , NV-GS75 , NV-GS11 , NV-MD9000 etc

I am a repair technician in India .I'm repairing camcorders from last 18years Before 2004 , we advice all our customers to buy Panasonic Camcorders as there was full support from the Panasonic company and ther Panasonic camcorders were very good. Every Service manual of Panasonic was available. After 2004 , when the trend of Digital camcorders and camera comes to play in India , we found that Panaosnic Camcorders are useless to buy. We considered the following problems: a) From 10 of our customers who buy NV-MX500 Camcorder from market for $1500 , 8 customers has the following problem: i) After 1-2 months, we found that the camcorders has a problem of CCD . The CCD cost is approx 500$ . We refuses the customers to replace the CCD Block Assy as it's price was very high . Then one of our customer forces us to put the new CCD . We refuses but we agree to replace it if the customer can get a right one. The customer called me that he has found one camcorder who has problem in mechanism and the CCD was OK . We agree to replace the CCD from one CAMCORDER to other . We checked the camcorder with mechanism fault if the CCD was Ok. The CCD contaisn no problem . We replaced it . After 2 days the customer told me that his camcorder has some problem in picture that is it's colour are mixing up or losing colours . We decided that the replaced CCD was also gone damaged. ii) One of our customer got replaced his CC from other city and after 10 days he found that his CCD got damaged .. b) There is a new camcorder of Panasonic NV-GS75 One of our customer buys that 10days before and now the camcorder is with us which is fully dead . There is a problem in main card which i am sure will have a cost more than that of a camcorder . Panasonic Company is not even providing Service manuals of Main board and mechanism . They simply write that you have to change the whole Main board and mechansim if certain symptoms of problem occur . This means that if there is a problem of fuse in a main board whose cost is 1$ , you have to replace the ain board whose cost is approx. that of a camcorder?? If there is any problem in mechanism which can be repaired for 10$ we have to pay $300-$400??? Is that right?? NV-MD9000 , NV-GS11, NV-GS60 and all other camcorders have problem of "Push the reset button"(flashed on LCD after 2-3 months . This problem is due to some company defect in soldering in Main board. We are able to correct this problem but if we took the same camcorder to company service centre they say that the main board of the camcorder has to be replaced . In the service manual , it is written to be the same. So above are the incidents that occur with me and it is my experience that one should not buy a new Panasonic camcorder . Regards, Davy
