Re[2]: JVC service or questions

Gary Posted Dec 24, 2005, in response to:Patrick

Hi Patrick, I noticed the same problem with my KD-SH99, in that the unit will only play all the tracks from a given folder in the alphabetical order of the artist name in the ID information. From what I understand, you cannot get the unit to play all tracks numerically independent of the artist. So, you have to create folders for each artist and prefix with a number, like "01 PinkFloyd". Since the folders will be accessed in numerical order, you will be controlling the order that artist music is played. I can't remember off hand as I write this, but for all music by a given artist WITHIN AN ARTIST FOLDER, I think the music will be played in the order of track numbers first, then track name if there are duplicate track numbers or track numbers are not available. The KD-SH99 is a great unit, but it is obsolete now. The only thing I find incredibly annoying is the dark display. It is very hard to read in bright light conditions--the display gets washed out by the light and reflections on the glossy display make it worse. But thankfully JVC solved this problem with later units... although I wish they'd have kept that beautiful clean brushed aluminum look.
