Sony TV - KV32V15 - Picture cycles off/on

Kirth Posted Dec 30, 2005

Does anyone know which part I should replace first? Sony KV-32V15 picture cycles off & on if VIDEO setting "Picture" or "Bright" is set past 25% or 50% respectively. Sound is continuous and good.

When MENU is active, the picture is stable and darkened (by design). If Video setting for "Picture" is set to minimum and "Bright" set to below 50%, then Picture is also stable, but dark. Setting beyond 25% for "Picture" or 50% "Bright" causes trouble to resume (picture cycles on/off). TV had "Picture" set to 100% for approx. 10years, 10hrs/day. All other settings were about 50%. Any help would be appreciated - Thank you. (sorry for the double post - I forgot to say I was looking for help)

Kirth, it seems as if your Jungle IC301 is sensing low emission from your CRT and is blanking your video. Sometimes increasing the Screen Voltage to the CRT will alleviate this problem but in your case it seems that a darker picture will allow the video to remain, so maybe try decreasing the Screen Voltage a bit. Whatever the case it certainly seems like your CRT is giving you problems. I have some drawings for a Sony KV-27V15 which is the same chassis as yours (AA1) only a smaller CRT and you are welcome to them if you supply your e-mail address. Eric
