JVC GR-D30U condensation

BOBBY JONES Posted Feb 02, 2006

JVC condensation, can it be fixed or should i save myself the aggrevation of returning problems.

JVC GR-D30U I have a condensation, operation paused on my screen. It's been there for 6 months. Can it be fixed and stay fixed? If anyone has any positive feed back on JVC cams working like they should after a problem has been fixed please let me know. I'm thinking about just washing my hands of this cam and starting over with a new one, NOT JVC. I have read so messages about problems with JVC digital cams. Can it be fixed, and is it worth fixing?

Anyone requesting this type of info should be aware of following. Please note that anyone requesting this info must "NOT" choose to hide their e-mail address as the info is complex with attachments can only go to a "DIRECT" e-mail address which cannot be done if its hidden. It should be pointed out that the info is really in two stages the first being the dew sensor cleaning procedure, however should this procedure fail then the only option left is the second and more complex task of disabling the dew sensor circuit. Although anyone thinking on this is advised to observe the under mentioned.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - AN IMPORTANT POINT CONCERNING THE MODIFICATION - The instructions given are really aimed at technically minded people of a "practical" hands-on type who are acquaint at working on small electro-mechanical devices of a precision nature or who have a flair for this sort of thing, and so in the interests of not making the situation any worse I would strongly advise anyone who does not really consider themselves as coming into that category NOT to attempt this work, as it involves separating the case and the unscrewing the main circuit board to gain access to the board below it, this requiring the disconnection of ribbon cables etc, it is also necessary to carry out the precision soldering of two "very" narrowly spaced PCB pins so the possession of a fine tipped soldering iron is also absolutely essential plus of course the skill to use same. Taking the above into consideration the qualification mentioned is really a MUST!! It should be emphasised that there are "NO" shortcuts into permanently getting over this problem other than what's been aforementioned, as if the "no dismantling" dew sensor cleaning procedure doesn't help but the "partial dismantling" memory reset "does", even this can only really be adopted as a stop gap measure as the CPU could lock up again at some point in time and indeed in many cases does exactly that!

After trying everything last year I had finally resorted to opening it up, thourghly cleaning it, and disconnecting the sensor. It was fixed for a few months but now the same problem is back again. Took the tape out to clean a little and the gear on the inside fell off. I've always kept my camera in the best of care until a few mins ago when I chucked it at the wall, shattered. I'm completely done wiht JVC. I recommend that nobody ever buys JVC products, EVER. I spent 3 hours today preparing for a movie to make for a college project, and this all happened as I was ready and pulling out the camera. I've had other JVC products with numorous problems, never again JVC. People stay away from the company.

I did it i did it..the hard reset work..for how long i don't know, but it worked..just draw your diagram. i drew the top, bottom, the rear where the battery mounts and the inside where the lcd screen lives. i think there were a total of 6 sizes of screws and there were 22 or 24 of them. Thanks for the guidence..

NEW POSTINGS WILL "NOT" BE SEEN IF MADE ANYWHERE UNDER THIS HEADING, THIS DUE TO THEM APPEARING AS OLD POSTINGS BY HAVING THE "ORIGINAL" POSTERS DATE ON THEM.

If a blonde soccer-mom like me can take out 25 screws from the video camera, pull it completely appart, find the connecter to disconnect, and screw in all 25 screws back in their proper holes, turn in back on and it's re-set and FIXED ... ANYONE can do this! I tried the oven technique first, didn't work, so instead of waiting for my husband to come home to take it appart, I just did it and I don't know if it will happen again, but now I know what to do. Thanks!

Hi I recently turned on my camera to find the message "Condensation, operation paused". What if anything can I do about this problem? Thanks in advance

If you take the camcorder case screws out and separate the case, look near the loading motor at the rear left hand side (looking from the front) of the mechanism, have a look for the plug (number CN201) that supplies power to the loading motor. When found, take off (carefully snip) the wire from pin 6, and that will disconnect the sensor. It should be said only do that if you know that its not actually excessive moisture thats causing the problem, or the tape could stick to the drum, but its more the common case the over sensitivity of that particular circuit.
