The "Lens Cap" issue is a failed "Sony" part...not a JVC part. Sony's CCD's are failing all over the place with many products on the market from cameras to camcorders. Go to JVC.com > service and support > customer notification Read the instructions and send your camcorder in for repair under warranty. There is a list of models that are covered. Your model must match the covered models.
