Welcome to the select many who have suffered the same fate! Sony didn't realize qhen they created that monsterous set that the "underbelly" was too flexible to support the weight of the cabinet and, when the set was placed down incorrectly, the stress on the "A" board caused it to break and...........now you, too, are without any adequate solution.

Sony will tell you that your set is, under normal circumstances, good for 8-10 years. They stopped manufacturing the "A" board only 4 years after its introduction. They have no answer for you other than your set is out of warranty.

I searched for repaired boards, salvaged boards, interchangeable boards and have had no success in locating a board which might work.

So much for Sony !

  This vendor claims they can repair the A-1298-961-A board for approximately $170. PTS Electronics (http://www.ptscorp.com/television.html) The board is cracked...do you think they can repair it?
