Sony Trinitron KV25DXR stuck in Sleep Mode!

Power comes on only in sleep mode
When I turn on the power it only comes on in sleep mode. Buttons on the controller don't do anything except turn on in sleep mode. After that, it won't turn off the power or do anything at all. No picture. No sound. Nada--zip! Any ideas what's happening here?

Did you solve this?
I have the same set, which I have had for over 20 years. The exact thing happened to me in the past week. I have the set at a service store, but they don't have the manual. It's available for $$, and before I invest, I'd like to know what you found.,
