Re: Sony Trinitron KV25DXR stuck in Sleep Mode!

Ritchard Lewis Posted Aug 29, 2006, in response to:TJ

Did you solve this? I have the same set, which I have had for over 20 years. The exact thing happened to me in the past week. I have the set at a service store, but they don't have the manual. It's available for $$, and before I invest, I'd like to know what you found., thanks Ritch Lewis

I have a KV-25DXR which has, today, turned on stuck in sleep mode. I have the original remote and it doesn't do anything other than turn the set on but the set doesn't respond to any of its other commands and it can only be turned off by the power button on the front of the set. When I push the "on" button, I hear the relay click and the video LED is off and there's no picture and no sound, if the power has been off for a while the degauss circuit works. I have a full set of schematics for it. I have found that the power button on the front sends a signal to the "user control" IC 2002 and it manages the application of power to the LEDs on the front of the set and a relay (RY 601)with a single set of contacts on board "F" which applies AC power to an AC rectifier on the same board which, at 320 Volts, goes to a voltage converter board "GA". There doesn't appear to be any other electro-mechanical relays, only solid state ones. I had the flyback replaced a few years ago and, shortly afterwards, the tuner went so I've been using it as a video monitor with various devices sending their signals to it via the monitor inputs and I've been using a VCR TV tuner to watch TV programs on it. This KV-25DXR cost a small fortune when I bought it and it has incrementally been dying. It is now time for it to go to the dump. Does anyone have recommendations for a replacement?
