Re: Convergence problems on AV-48WP30

gary Posted Sep 17, 2006, in response to:Mark Venable

Well I did what was described in the posts but I am not a success story like the others. I desoldered the 110s and soldered the 150s. But after reconnecting the board and powering on the TV, I get no picture. The lamps do not fire. The power button is on but soon blinks in about two second increments. The only way to get the power off again is to unplug the TV. Does anyone ideas as to where I went wrong?

Hello Gary I did the suggested repair and everything worked well for 3 weeks and then the blue went out just as the red had. I assumed I had a cold solder joint and did something I definitely should not have. I unclippied the board from its base and turned it on its side. With the tv on, so I could see the picture, I pushed against each of the leads i had soldered on the stk's. i slipped and accidentally shorted 2 of the legs and now have exactly what you are describing except for a popping noise from the speakers that stops when the blue power button starts pulsing. If anyone has offered up an answer let me know please. It sounds like this model has a lot of convergence problems. I might just move on to something else but it sure does sting when it's less than 3 years old. Thanks.
