Man thanks for the great thread - I had the white lines with reflections in the upper part of my screen as well and I changed out the capacitor mentioned. It worked like a charm and the part cost $1.30 from Radio Shack. BTW, I don't know anything about electronics and just decided I had nothing to lose by giving it a try. Thanks

  thanks for the info on the JV 27230 vert problem fixed by replacing C424! can you tell me where on the board that Cap is as I have no diagram? many thanks in adavance
