Hey,
got a question I have a hitachi dz-mv550a and it is reading a 2881 error code and in manual it says it can't read disc may be dirty. Not the case cleaned and it still dosen't work. It works perfectly without the disc and have tried many discs, different types too. No Luck but then sometimes it works reading the disc and all, then shut it off for 20 min and fire it back up and get the erorr code.
Can you help and it this an easy reset or something

  ME TOO... my camcorder was 8 months old when I started getting this message as well... 2281. I downloaded the manual but couldn't find anything. I called Hitachi who told me parts might be under warranty but not labor... and the time it would take too.
  
  It is two days before Thanksgiving now... this will be the first year in about 4 I can't add to my kids memories by video library.
  
  I am pissed. Disks are $13 and I already have 2 fairly new disks an neither one work so it can't be the disks...
  
  Wish we had an answer!
