Re[3]: JVC service or questions

George - 1st Oct 2006 23:03

The orignal fix that I mentioned used a 35V capacitor - that was the OEM design. My TV went out again after about a year. I replaced the cap with two 50V caps in parallel (to get the same capacitance value as he original design) and have not had any trouble since then. If yours goes out again - beef up the voltage handling of the caps. seems there is an inrush of current that may be too high for this cap (a poor design)

While there was probably no harm in putting two capacitors in parallel, this is not the same capacitance. It is double the capacitance. Using a 50V unit accomplishes your goal of increasing the service factor.
