Re[8]: SONY ORIGINAL PARTS

dav W Posted Oct 20, 2006, in response to:Mickey J

You did not describe the process for attaching the lead. Any tips on soldering? It appears there are 5 screws to remove for access. Did any parts fall out...ie from any of the touch controls? I already removed the front+ back and have ordered the battery holder and ready to do the next steps. Is there enough "play" in the circuit board connections to access/remove/re-install the holder? I'm sure you enjoy the results of using your Sony again! thanks for the additional details.

I have found the information on this posting very usefull. My daughter just recently tried to swap out battries and in the process, snaped the small tabs that hold the cover closed off. I was not a happy camper when she brought the camera to me to fix. After reviewing these posts, I am of the opinion that this is a common problem with this model camera. The reason I found this forum is that I was researching the part number so that I could fix it. Now I'm not so sure. I think what I'm going to do is tape the door closed and then put on my tripod adapter to hold it shut. I know this isn't the true fix, but sure as the sun comes up, that door will snap again. This is just a very poor design with no real remedy.
