  Well, there are two"fixes" available.....
  
  My quick fix is:
  
  1. Hold camera firmly in left hand
  2. Smartly rap front of camera with knuckles of right hand on the "Cyber-shot" logo.
  
  For the info that Eric has provided, that requires you to open the camera, send your e-mail address to BobA5835-at-Yahoo-dot-com.

    I can't believe it. My wife's camera had this white screen phenomena. I thought it was broken for sure. So I found your fix on the web. Wow! Tried it - and it worked. Big thanks! Saved me buying another camera.
