Re[4]: Convergence problem with JVC AV-48WP74 tv

Yes the front panel comes off easily. Open the small door where the front jack pack is and remove the 4 little screws. Then just pop off the front panel. Under that is a smaller panel with 4 screws. Remove them. This will expose 4 more screws that fasten the Light Box to the cabinet, the metal housing that contains all of the modules, picture tubes, etc. Remove then. On the back edge of the Light box there are 3 screws, about an inch and a quarter long. Remove those and then look for 1 more small screw up towards the middle of of chasis. It has a white circle painted around the screw head to ID it on the pc board. Ooops, abmost forgot. There are 4 brass screws that hold the front control panel onto the cabinet. Unplug the 2 speaker wire sets, one on the left and one on the right sides of the Light box and 1 cabe in the front which is for operating the Super Focus. Now you can pull the Light box out and set it upon a work bench and then the convergence module is readily accessible which is at the very front of the chasis. I hope this helps. I use solder wick to remove the solder and a solder flux to make the solder flow more readily. Before installing the new ICs be sure to use heat sink compound on them. Good luck on the repair, Max AKA TVguy
