I have a sony CCD-V800E. It has not been used for a few years, and i have tried to see if it was OK. Running a tape back and forwards a few times produced a clear picture on screen, output to a tv, and on the camera(record).
It however suddenly stopped and the Lithium battery indications showed a new one needed. i have changed that and reset the time, but the unit will not playback anything now. The RC code time counter doesn't progress, and there is no sound output either, even though the tape is visibly turning.

What has possibly happened, and is it fixable, or do I have another sony scrap item?
