Re: Sony KPR-53EX35 Sound no image

Do you still have this television? I had the same problem. It turned out that the high voltage section on this model was not soldered very well. I just heated up all of the solder joints and it worked. I would suggest using a digital camera to record where all of the connectors go before disconnecting them. And, just in case you don't know, make sure you've unplugged the television and wait for several minutes before trying to take it out. I'm having a problem with another board right now. It worked for over a year, but something is wrong. I'm tracking the problem down now. It has the same symptoms as before, but I'm certain it's a different problem.

Hello, I have an old Sony Videoscope projection t.v. Model kpr-53ex35. the picture initially comes on but after about 15 minutes the picture goes very dark, you can only make out "shadows" on the set. After about 5-10 minutes the picture will come back on, and then it will go out permanently, totally black. I turn off the set and after 50 minutes to 1 hour, I turn it back on and the picture goes through the same routine. I was wondering if these symptoms were similar to those of your set and if you think re-soldering would help or any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you very much. By the way, how do you access/where do you find the board which needs to be soldered?
