My camera jvc gr-d72u tells me to remove lens cap when no lens cap is on the screen says eo2 and it says its record but the screens black it will play whats on a tape but now record and says safeguard mode

    Josh..the safeguard mode is a seperate issue that may be an issue with bad tapes (TDK and Maxell seem to not work as well as Panasonic or JVC)...the Lens Cap message may be a defect issue covered by JVC. you can contact JVC on the Lens Cap message but the safeguard message may be a seperate repair issue if tapes are not the problem. The Lens Cap issue can possibly be repaired at not charge...contact JVC for more info: CCD Program for This Model - GR-D72US JVC has received reports that in certain circumstances, this model may, while in the camera mode, show no picture, a distorted picture and/or display “LENS CAP” even though the lens cap is removed. We have identified the probable cause as a failure of the CCD image sensor. Until October 1, 2007, repairs of units exhibiting these problems as a result of a defect in the CCD image sensor will be made free of charge at JVC Factory Service Centers.
