Re[4]: JVC service or questions

My tv is working just fine now. Went to Radio Shack and bought the capicitor $1.59 and a soldering kit with everything in it $7.99, tax $0.63. total cost $10.21. NOT $200-$300 to have a repairman do it. Should be a law against such abominable travesty. it's no different than price gouging at the gas pump.

I removed the back cover of the tv myself. found the bad capacitor and it looked just as described, puffed up at the top, but was scared to attempt the soldering so had the maintenance man do it for me $0(damsel in distress here). he put the cover back on, plugged it in and VOILE`. I got my tv back!

Tom, if you ever read this, thanks so much. if it wasn't for you i really don't know what i would have done. Thank God i had sense enough to look on the internet and found this thread. i would have been royally screwed and no reach around LOL!

I hope that anyone with this problem finds this thread. could save them a bunch of money!
