Re[2]: Convergence problem with JVC AV-48WP74 tv

Tigas Posted Sep 15, 2008, in response to:Jo Ann Conner

JVC AV-48WP74 and AV-56WP74 uses the same Convergence Chip and they tend to go down after about 2 yrs. of normal usage. I have 2 of AV-56WP74 at home and I replaced the Conv. chips on both twice already. In fact, I just changed the Conv. chip on one a couple of days ago. So far, no Resistors has been replaced yet. Btw, it is very important to use Thermal Compound. DIY is ok if you know how to do it properly, otherwise you might cause more damage. All what you need to know about JVC Conv. issues are posted here and there.

My tv had a red shadow around everything. I adjusted the conv and the red wouldn't move so i unpluged it and turned it on and tried again. The red started to go up and then it turned off and made the popping noise with 2 sec on and 2sec off flashes in the power light. I already had the stk's replace both with 180s. What causes the noise and flashing light resitors of the stks? Could you give me any direction of what to replace/check. tHANKS Alot
