Re[2]: Sony DSC W5 lens problem

bert Posted Jun 24, 2009, in response to:Jordan

It's the same story with my 3 year old DSC W5. I brought it to a Sony Service Center earlier today and was advised that the lens would be replaced at a cost of $150 plus $25 for labor charge. After reading the several posts before me, I tried whaking it with my hand, on the table & even dropping it on the carpeted floor. I even tried waving it vigorusly like a magic wand. I could see some results with the lens struggling to come out everytime i turned on the camera. It would come to a stop midway or retract back when I turn it off & on again. With all the abuse it got from me I thought that additional damage could have been inflicted on the internal mechanism already. I was almost giving up on it then I tried bouncing it left & right on my bed while holding on the strap, and guess what....it worked!
