Re[2]: Sony DSC-S40 white LCD screen problem

For work purposes, I received a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S40 camera. After just a few months of dealing with the screen fading in and out with lines across the screen, I would tap it, etc. This worked each time until one day when it totally blanked out to white. I was not able to use it any longer. This was two years ago.
I always felt totally responsible and wanted to replace the camera but did not try to actually purchase another camera until this summer. I went on E-Bay and bought the same model. When it got here it had some of the same lines across the screen. I tapped it and it would come back. After a couple of uses, it eventually did the exact thing the old one did. I was so upset. So I took a chance to type in Google for a solution. To my surprise I found one. Then in total shock the solution worked!!!! Yeah!!! However, I do wonder what would be the permanent solution?
