Re: Sony Trinitron TVs

The hairdryer trick really works!!! It's worth a try. We have a KV-40XBR800 that had trouble turning on for a couple of weeks, then wouldn't turn on at all. We only got clicks and 6 blinks. After using the hairdryer on each side for 5 minutes each, the tv turned on and the picture is better than ever. Probably need to do it every six months as a preventative. Good Luck. We just saved $200+.

I also have the same TV. Bought mine back in 2003. Had this problem paid the money to get it fixed 250 dollars later and only a year after fixing it, it got turned off and wouldn't turn back on. Very frustrated that I would have to pay to get it fixed again, I looked and looked for some solutions. Came across the hair dryer solution and to my amazement after hours of trying to turn the TV back on, 5 minutes of using the blow dryer and wouldn't you know it WORKED! Thank you so much for this post. I recommend it to anyone having this problem. It worked for us :)

Can you tell me what the "hair dryer trick" is? I have the Sony 40 inch as well.
