Teresa - 7th Dec 2005 5:24 I have a jvc vhsc camcorder model #gr-ax640, I recorded someone singing and the playback sound sounds like a really sick whale. I cannot find information on the audio part of this camera. Could you please help where do I get info on this and is there anything I can do to save the recording. The person singing has an absolutely beautiful voice, so it is not them,
Thanks Teresa

There is the possibility that this happened during the recording, although if the tape dragged during it, the playback would result in a "chirpy" high pitched erratic sound. If you have any other previously recorded tapes try them out and see if they play in a similar fashion, or if you don't have any, try and find someone else with a VHS-C machine to try your tape in, and to determine if this is only happening during your playback.
It should be said that it could also be condensation on the tape drum causing the tape to drag, and if there is any suspicion of this leave the camcorder in a warm place for a few hours, do similar with the tape.
Of course it could purely be a problem with that particular cassette that you have used, and only carrying out the aforementioned procedures would determine if it was.

Thanks
I tried all your ideas and no go it sounds the same on the tv and computer. I also recorded later the same night on a different camera and it came out ok. Is there any way to check the audio on the jvc. Previous tapes are ok, and the tape I'm having the problem with has previous recording on it which sound fine.
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks Teresa

Michael - 8th Dec 2005 3:16 Found It!!!!!
Go to JVC's website look under user manuals search files using KD-G2. This will pull up all the manuals. Then just download as needed.

Drake Robinson - 8th Dec 2005 18:24 Hi I have a JVC AV-27790 which I got for my birthday in 1996. It worked great until 1998, but then the TV-guide plus stopped working. Soon after that, I couldn't get ANY on screen display at all (including the volume display). I can't get any onscreen menus and can't even change channels. Fortunately it's stuck on channel 3 so I have used the VCR for a tuner.
Right now, I still have it boxed up since I moved in 2003.
Do you think it's worth fixing?
