Stacey, I have a GR-D91U, and it suddenly stopped working and went into Safegaurd mode. Unfortunatley, it stopped there with the tape loading carriage out. We have had the unit checked by a repair shop, and they said that the cassette loading carriage assembly was bent and that the unit was not worth fixing. I don't know if I completely trust their assesment. He said he disassembled the unit, but I found NO exidence of this. And, after hours of studying the unit, have found NO exidence of a bent carriage. But, even though I am mechanically compentant (IMHO), I am not a trained tech, so my opinion may not be valid. The behavior I have seen in my camcorder seems to resemble a lot of behavior on this board. Is there anything you can reccomend? Is there a place to get hold of the repair manual for this unit? I purchased a JVC TV model 32980 in 1998 and in 2005 it failed to turn back on after it was turned off. I reviewed the messages attached and what everyone has been saying was correct. It was the capacitor located in position C926 according to the repair shop and it cost me 150.00 CDN. So my question to JVC is, why don't they simply issue a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin)? The repair shop even stated it was a common problem!

I have the JVC GR-SXM330U camcorder. I am getting an E03 code when I try to record. It will record for maybe 2-3 seconds then stop and I get the E03 and a message about operating in safeguard mode. I have turned it off, taken the battery off put it back on and nothing seems to fix the problem. Do you have any suggestions.

I own a JVC model GR-AXM348 compact VHS camcorder, which has worked fairly well over the years I have owned it. Now, suddenly, it has stopped working. I have looked at various websites discussing JVC camcorder problems, but haven't seen anything similar to mine. When I switch on the camera, either to record or to play, it switches on momentarily, and then just clicks off. If I have the screen open, the screen goes blue for a moment (no text or picture on the screen), and then switches off. I thought it might be battery contacts or faulty battery, but I tried the record and play using the battery/charger power pack, but the same problem occurs. Have you ever come across this problem, and, if so, is it fixable t a reasonable cost. I am based in Sydney, Australia, so would probably have access to good JVC technicians, but I don't want to throw good money over bad. I look forward to your comments Thanks David Manor Sydney

Hi There; I have a JVC GR-DVL 805 camcorder which is about 4 years old. It receives regular(approximately annually) servicing, and has provided sterling service until recently. At present, it intermittently displays a "E04- unit in safeguard mode" error message, with instructions to remove and reattach battery. (I'm sure I'm telling you information with which you are quite familiar, but anyways...) The camcorder went in to our JVC dealer for servicing, but returned with the same problem, but only more frequent in occurrence. It now occurs 60% of the times the machine is turned on. Any information or assistance you could provide would be most appreciated. Thanks; Dave Fraser Kenora, Ontario, Canada
