I have a JVC GR-D31U and when I try to film something, the screen says the lens cap is on for a few seconds and then I just get a black screen in bothe the LCD screen and the eyepiece.. It plays back stuff that I taped earlier just fine, but I can't record anything now. Any ideas? http://www.pechorin.com/m/2004/01/30/JVC_service_or_questions-208860-62.html

My JVC RX-707V digital surround sound reciever was working fine. However I disconnected it and installed it in another room of the house and now when I turn it on I get sound out of the speaker but the sound is extremely low I have to turn the volume almost all the way up the even hear the faintest sound . If you can help me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

shannon - 28th Nov 2004 21:29 my jvc tv - av-65wp74 was playing, then a thumping noise started and the set shut itself off. When i turned it back on, no picture or sound just the same thumping noise through the speakers.

Tom - 2nd Nov 2005 1:31 I have a JVC 56" Rear Proj Hi-Def TV model #AV-65WP74. As Shannon experienced, it started making a "thumping" noise through the speakers and shut down. The only sign of life was the blue light on the power button fading in and out. I un-plugged and then re-powered it with the same results.
A local repair shop had to take it back to their shop to work on it. They called today to tell me that the "high-voltage transformer" had to be replaced at a cost of $570.00 to $630.00. Does this sound accurate? Is this a realistic repair cost?
I researched repair parts costs on-line @ Partstore.com and couldnt find any such part name or description.
This set isn't even 3 years old. At this point I need to decide if it's worth repairing or buying a new set. If nothing else, this is probably a good example of the justification for an extended warranty.
Please provide your feedback ASAP. I feel like I'm living in the dark ages without my big-screen!
Many thanks,
Tom

I have a 65" set that has done the same thing, and I am unwilling to spend over 500bucks on it, I spent 350 to replace the convergence chips 5 months ago
I probably will just replace it
I was wondering if you ever got any results with your set
appreciate a word
please write me if you can

We have a 32" JVC tv. Upon turning it on, after about 20 seconds, a black spot appears and takes over about 80% of the TV. Is the tube or tuner going bad?

JVC model AV-27D302. The vertical on top is coming back down upside down over the rest of the picture. We can't reset it from the menu or remote or from the back of the TV. Can you tell me whether it is something we can adjust ourselves? If not, can you estimate what it might cost to repair?

Travis - 26th Dec 2004 18:36 Hi I've got a similar problem, my JVC AV2600-CA has the bottom few inches inverted upward so that it operates backwards.

I have the same vertical black on top with some of the picture inverted. JVC 800 number told me to unplug the set for a couple of hours and to retry. It didn't help mine though. Any suggestions? How do I get into the service mode to see if anything shows up there? Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Jim

I have this going on too. I looking on Google and theres a lot of these crape JVC's doing this. Something with the Electrolytic capacitor in the Vertical Oscillator. I've been told to just replace the Vertical circuit or some random capacitors on it..

I have a JVC GR-DVL815U miniDV camcorder and now it is not correctly playing the tapes that I have in it. There is material on the tapes but it treats them like they are blank because there is no timecode, date, sound, or picture from the material on the tape. The camera can rewind fastfoward etc. through the tapes but still it is like they are blank. please help
