Re: SONY ORIGINAL PARTS

Mandy Posted Apr 26, 2004, in response to:CRIS

I have a SOny 8AF with the AC pack ACP-80UC battery charger. The camera works using the adapter and I can use it as long as there is an AC outlet around. The camera also came with two batteries and the recharger pack - but when I try and charge the batteries these things happen : 1) The recharger pack emmits a ticking sound when only one side is open - with the adapter plugged in. The ticking is loud. 2) This sound goes away when I open the units other side (exposing the two extra slos) 3) One of the batteries looks like it is charging. After 8 hours of charging, it still did not power the camera. 4) The other battery (when the unit is only exposing one open battery slot) when inserted causes the recharging again to emit a loud ticking sound that slowly peeters out (the light flashes in tandem) and then the light goes out. 5) The other battery does nothing to the unit when inserted. The charge light goes out and does not do anything even after 30 minutes. This is alot, but if anyone has similiar problems, please let me know. I don't why to buy a new battery and find out that the RECHARGE unit is the culprit. Thanks PS - is there a way of checking is the RECHARGE unit is functioning properly?

This is very similar to a problem just developed with my Sony HC-30. The battery unit is causing a ticking sound and will not recharge. It's not in a recharging unit, it's in the camera itself. When the battery is out of the camera, the ticking stops. The recharger will operate the camera, but seems not to be able to recharge the battery. Did you ever get any further information about your problem?
