Sony Trinitron TVs

anonymous Posted Dec 31, 2004

"The Petition":

My family has a Sony Trinitron TV (Model Number KV-35V36) that was purchased in 1998. It too, like so many other of these TVs suddenly turned off and died. Over the years, we have bought many Sony products and have had little problems. However, this television "epidemic" is a major issue and one that must be dealt with and solved. Therefore, I propose this; ANYONE WHO HAS/HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SONY TRINITION TV, PLEASE POST YOUR NAME, MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER ON THIS WEBSITE, WHERE I WILL PLACE THEM ON A PETITION TO BE E-MAILED/MAILED TO SONY. They might be able to ignore one of us, but they can't and WILL NOT ignore all of us. -Thank you

Sigh. Same here...bought our Trinitron for a downstairs rec room we barely use. Bought it when we moved here 6 years ago and it died about two years ago. We've kept it thinking we'd find the means/reason to fix it, but sounds like a doubtful way to go.... Arrrgghh!

Three years ago I bought a 32 inch Sony Wega Wide Screen HDTV for 2200.00. Beautiful Set! I have always been a LOYAL SONY Customer till now. My set is new and should not be having this problem which I see is a very common problem! Sony needs to do some recalls and admit they have a problem here. The only thing I can see that is going on is that Sonys Well made Televisions are no longer well made, but made with the cheepest parts they can get now. NO quality left. My young son has recently bought him a television that he has saved up for and we were going to get a Sony, but after hearing about all the problems Sony has been giving thier customers, including me,I did not purchase a Sony. Anyway to the problem..So we did a lot of research and purchased a brand name set that does not have any bad complaints like Sony. Sony is loosing all of their customers. My set did something similar..it did not turn off by itself, but after being turned off by us, would not turn back on and we get the familar blinking red panel light. For about a week, when we would turn off the set, we would have problems getting it to turn back on. The first time it didnt turn on in the morning, it took till 3pm before we could turn it on. As the time went by it would take a day for it to turn back on. So we got to the point where we left the set itself on, but turned off the Dish Network. I had to tape a paper to the tv to pull down after we were done watching the tv saying.."Do not turn off the television...it will not turn back on!!" Unfortunalty after two days my daughter accidentally turned the set off and now it will not turn on at all. That was a month ago. I now have this 3 year New Set that cost me 2200.00 in my living room that does not work. So yeah..I will not be purchasing a Sony again in my life time. I was so dissappointed to hear of such terrible service and terrible products now coming from a once proud company that took pride it its products and service. I wonder how much longer Sony will be in business if this keeps up.

My 32" Sony KV32V26 - just died after 6 years!!! it just stopped turning on one day - and I have not been able to figure out how to fix it. It just really makes me angry because I paid good money for this TV - this was before TV's became inexpensive!

Sony Trinitron KV-36FV15 bought for $2000.00 in Jan.2000 Since June of 08" it blinks black every 6 - 9 seconds all the time, sound is good, except high pitch squeal at times. Contacted Sony, they have NOOOOOOOOOO customer service of any kind. Totally frustrated, can someone please help, if you know how to repair? Best advise is to NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy a Sony Product EVER EVER EVER again!!! Technicians have told me they are PRE Programed to die, that is; Sony wires them so they will burn out and die. Then, you will go buy another one and another one and another one.....etc Sony stays rich and we stay poor, guess they have a plan. Disgusted, fleeced and broke, Dave

My Trinitron turned off all of sudden. It's not new, maybe over 5 years old but still too early to die. Akiko Seattle, WA

My neighbor bought her Sony Triniton KV-32S22 brand new and had it less than a year and she hardly ever watched it. She married and moved out of state so I bought it from her and moved it across the hallway. NO ISSUES with the move. It lasted 4 mos. and then just died. Sound yes, but no picture. What a piece of crap. Why does everyone one think these trinitons are so great. What a total waste of $350.
