Re: Re: Re: JVC service or questions

I'll tell you what, I have talked to about 3 other owners of JVC 27 inch sets, and they have all experienced the same problem after a couple years or so. One of the owners told me he had it repaired and it works fine now - the problem is supposedly a faulty tv tuner. I am thinking of getting mine repaired, but if it costs more than $50, I'm better off just buying a new tv. I contacted JVC with this issue and explained to them the problem and that it is very common. I asked if there was any way they would fix it for free or re-emberse my repair costs and they told me no because they have never heard of such a problem. Frankly, I'm pretty upset and I definitely won't be buying any more JVC products.

Travis - 23rd Apr 2005 14:22 I also have this problem with my 27' JVC set. In fact, the image seems to kinda mirror itself in the lines. This happens with playstation, dvd, vcr, etc. JVC claims to have never heard it. Either they're lying to me, there communications is non-existant, or there R&D team is completely incompetant.

Richard - 1st Mar 2007 0:00 Same exact television. Same exact problem.
I didn't remember the model number of my JVC 27" when I got online and started searching "horizontal white lines at the top of the screen". After glancing at a few sites, I reached this forum. Rotated the TV and looked at the sticker on the back. WA-LA! AV-27230. I've also noticed the image mirroring in the lines. JVC can claim they're not aware of the problem all they want...I refuse to believe that. I'm switching-out the capacitor myself.
Thanks for the help, folks!

Brent - 3rd May 2005 19:28 Weird! My 27" JVC has been doing this for months -- started out as white lines that would eventually disappear after the TV had been on for awhile (but immediately return if the TV was turned off and then back on), but now the top 1.5" of the screen is completely black, followed by another 4-5" of lines, then normal picture. I don't think it's the TV tuner per se, because it is present whether watching off the air or from a DVD through S-video (where the tuner isn't involved AFAIK.)
It doesn't look hopeful, but if anyone has a solution for this, please let me know. Seems like more than a coincidence that the only people reporting this problem seem to be 27" JVC owners. :-(

ryan - 9th Jun 2005 1:15 Exact same problem here with my JVC 27". Anyone find a fix?
- Re[5]: JVC service or questions Steve - 9th Jun 2005 14:29
I have called JVC customer service and they deny that it is a wide spread problem. Please call them and tell them you are having this problem with this set - if they receive enough complaints they may fix it for free.

i belong to this dead-JVC Horizontal lines club also. Anyone got the tel. no. for JVC. This is a clear manufacturer's fault, as far as I can tell.

Same exact problem. I googled the "symptoms" and found this site. Nice of JVC to play crazy. I've been loyal to them since I started buying electronic equipment for myself and this may be the end. I'll call and refer them to this website if they claim " first we're hearing of it"
