Re[2]: SONY ORIGINAL PARTS

Mal Posted Feb 21, 2005, in response to:G Todd

TRY THIS: Open the tape door on the bottom. LEAVE IT OPEN. Power off your camcorder and remove the battery. With the battery removed, move the power switch to ON. LEAVING THE POWER ON AND THE TAPE DOOR OPEN, replace the battery. The tape should eject without damage. This works for many other models as well.

THANK YOU for this tip! It worked on my friend's Hi-8 CCD-TR910. Saved me from having to replace this for her. Whew!

Thank you for the excellent advise, I can confirm this worked perfectly with a CCD-TR780E camcorder. The relief I felt when the mechanism started ejecting the tape was hard to describe. That's the advantage of being so far down the mental foodchain, there's always lots of people who can offer advice.

The response was awesome. At first the cassette was trying to pop out but it got stuck. After a few tries, it worked. Thanks!!

Nope!! Did not work on my model ... I have a dcr-hc32 - tape has been stuck in that for a while. Everything works fine except I cannot get the tape out. I have been reusing the same tape and downloading the video on to my computer :)) I have to copy other tapes I recorded with this camera on to my computer. It would be great if I can get this camera casette door to open and be able to put my old tapes in. I dont want to purchase another MiniDV camera just for copying my old tapes. I am thinking of purchasing a camera with Hard Disk. Thanks in advance for your help. Regards.
