Re: Convergence problems on AV-48WP30

Excellent diagnosis by Carlos. IC804 controls red convergence. But in time IC805 will also fail as well. Replace them both with STK392-110. Also, check for cold solder joints in the vicinity of these ICs. If you want a schematic for this unit e-mail me.

      I have jvc tv for 3 years and i got a intense red and squirl screen now. Not sure where to start and no jvc people around. It sounds like an convergence issue but not too sure

      Hi. I am having the same problem as everyone else, what a bummer! TV is 3 years old, so lookes like it lasted a year longer than most!. Eric could you send me the info to repair it myself? Is it very involved and could I cause more harm than good?? Thanks Brenda

  Eric, You seem to have an excellant understanding of this TV. My problem while similar, is a little different. I am able to adjust the convergence crosses vertically and horizontally and achieve a white cross. My problem is the left top cross sits lower than the other crosses across the top. the left top portion of the screen is slightly out of focus with some halo effect and straight lines are distorted.       Eric, I see you have some solid advice. I checked on the internet about the convergance problem with my JVC AV48WP30, ordered two new chips STK-392150 to replace the 110 and it still has the same problem. The red is off, I tried to allign with the remote after pressing the white button on the convergance board but the resd does not move side to side, can you help. Trevor

      I am assuming I have the same problem but maybe a little worse. I have the red and blue crosses which line up fine, I now have green ones the are in an arc across the top and bottom of the picture area. There is no green adjustment so I assume it is chio related. The TV actually did this in the middle of watching a show. Any help would be appreciated.

      My AV48wp30 is ghosting as well. Is this just a board swap or is there a soldering job involved. Please send the SAM for my TV, or better yet, host them somewhere to save yourself the trouble!

      Eric do you happen to still have the manual for the AV-56wp74? I got this TV off of a buddy and he tried the convergeance replacement (with no success) and I'm trying to figure out where all the wires he disconnected go. I appreciate your help with this in advance. :)

  Had a problem with Blue Convergence, you sent me files and assisted with some helpful information. Replaced IC chips and TV works great. I did try a little upgrade. The convergence chips are 0.10 centers like normal IC so I purchased some IC sockets. The Hybrid chip pins are standard spacing but not standard diameter and the pins would not fit in the sockets so they had to be hard soldered back in. A good solder removal tool is a must for this repair. Thanks again Eric.
