Re: JVC service or questions

Terry McGlothlin Posted May 30, 2005, in response to:Stacy Sample

I have an old RX-505V stereo receiver that I'm afraid I blew out, but want to see if anything can be done. I was using it to identify recently installed in-wall speaker wires, and even though I knew better, was just running 1 speaker at a time. No problem until I got to the furthest room from where I was, and I turned up the vol so I could hear. Loud pop, visible flash & some smoke... I opened the case and found the 5A fuse by the power supply was blown. I replaced the fuse several times, but each time it would blow when I plugged the unit in. Finally one stayed intact, but all I get when I turn it on is the standby light (no display). Can anything be done, and if so where in Houston can I take it? Thank you, Terry McGlothlin
