Re: JVC service or questions

Lane OConnor

My JVC digi-cam model GR-D90U suddenly quit focusing.

When turned on, the viewfinder and LCD show an out-of-focus image. Every few seconds, the image *almost* clears up, then returns to completely out-of-focus. Manual focus does not seem to accomplish anything.

I suspect the problem was caused while the camera was being toted; maybe jarred around some.

Playback is not affected.

Anything I can try before sending it to a repair facility (nearest is 120 miles)?

Thanks for any help offered.

Lane

I have the same issue with my JVC GR-DVP3U. I took it to a JVC repair facility here in Chicagoland. Where they said they would only look at it if I paid them first. They charged me 50.00 and said they couldn't replicate the error. That there was nothing wrong with my camera. Meanwhile I get it home and it's still broken. Still won't focus.

    Lying morons.

    Never JVC, ever again.

I have a GR-D90U that has the same problem (also shown for my model in post above this one by Eric. I live in Chicago land and they show 2 authorized repair centers, one on N. Clark in the city and one in Aurora. Which one did you go to so I know which one to avoid? I get focus back 'sometimes' when I run the zoom into max when pointed at a bright object but now it's not working again!

I went to one out in the burbs. I'll try to focusing on a bright object tactic, and see if that works. Meanwhile, I'm just using my JVC as a "loader" camera for uploading tapes to my computer, and for rewinding tapes. Pretty expensive for just those features!
