- GR-D30 Manual and Disc
Helpful - 18th Jun 2005 6:31 the manual can be downloaded for free at JVC.com. I am attaching the link below for your convenience. The disc can be found on the same site JVC.com "Accessory Store". Just utilize your model # on that page and the list of accessories will come up. Chose what you need and put it in your shopping cart.
The link for the manual download is:

- USB Connection Helpful - 18th Jun 2005 6:09
Before you assume it is the camera, try a different computer to load the software and run the camera. Use process of elimination and not purchasing of a new camcorder. If the camcorder responds to a different pc..then the original pc may be having the problem. It is often a misconception that the camcorder is the problem if a pc does not recognize it. The camcorder does not communicate with the pc -- the pc communicates with the camcorder
Also, make sure you are using the USB conn for photo transfer and not video transfer. IF you wish to transfer video, you should be using a program like Pinnacle Studio 9 to accomplish that. If you are just transferring photo's from a memory card (not the tape) then utilize the USB connection.

Lane OConnor - 14th Jun 2005 2:01 My JVC digi-cam model GR-D90U suddenly quit focusing.
When turned on, the viewfinder and LCD show an out-of-focus image. Every few seconds, the image *almost* clears up, then returns to completely out-of-focus. Manual focus does not seem to accomplish anything.
I suspect the problem was caused while the camera was being toted; maybe jarred around some.
Playback is not affected.
Anything I can try before sending it to a repair facility (nearest is 120 miles)?
Thanks for any help offered.
Lane

I have the same issue with my JVC GR-DVP3U. I took it to a JVC repair facility here in Chicagoland. Where they said they would only look at it if I paid them first. They charged me 50.00 and said they couldn't replicate the error. That there was nothing wrong with my camera. Meanwhile I get it home and it's still broken. Still won't focus.
Lying morons.
Never JVC, ever again.

I have a GR-D90U that has the same problem (also shown for my model in post above this one by Eric. I live in Chicago land and they show 2 authorized repair centers, one on N. Clark in the city and one in Aurora. Which one did you go to so I know which one to avoid? I get focus back 'sometimes' when I run the zoom into max when pointed at a bright object but now it's not working again!

I have a GRD30U that has no video at all. It may have been banged around a bit but can't be certain.
Basically it has no video from the lens assembly. e.g. Record mode has audio but no video in LCD or viewfinder at all. Flashes lens cap and landscape indicator (focus?).
Everything else works fine in play mode..

yoiu can go to the jvc website and get the info for a free fix. The camera was built with a defective part. I have the same camera that had the same problem. I sent it in, they fixed it free of charge and it works great now. Good Luck

Shane Hungerford - 16th Jun 2005 20:19 I recently plugged in the wrong charger to my JVC grd-30 camcorder, it started blinking like it was charging and then it quit, and it won't even come on anymore. Did I blow a fuse or just blow it up??
- No power
Helpful - 18th Jun 2005 5:55 There is a good chance you blew a fuse. The fuses are soldered onto the main board of the camcorder. A JVC or authorized JVC technician would be best to repair that for you. It should not be more than 1-2 fuses and 1 hour labor as long as the main board was not shorted out in the process. Try to find your nearest JVC factory or authorized JVC DV service center. Make sure if it is not a JVC factory center the technician you find is JVC "DV" authorized.
