I just dropped my DSC-V1 while the zoom lense was out.
Now the zoom seems to have become fixed and when i switch the power on it makes a clicking noise as it attempts to close the lense.
Eventually it gives up and a message on the screen says "turn power off and on again".
I guess that some cog or other got damanged when the camera hit the floor.
Is there anything that can be done?

Same problem with a Sony P73 camera. Dropped today while the zoom was out. Now a grinding noise, then message to turn on/off? Might this be repairable? Any estimate? Thanks

I have the same problem. My camera was dropped and now the lens won't close when the camera is off and the zoom is stuck. I have a DSC-P150. Any estimate on around how much it would cost to have it repaired? Thanks.

My MVC-CD250 disc camera quit wording only taken a couple hundred pictures in the 2+ years since I boughtit new. It is complely dead when I hook up carger to it the charge light will come on for 10-20 sec and go off. Will not operate on or off of charger. Tried the reset button with no results. How do you check the battery to see if it has been charged?

Hi, I have a Sony DSC W-5, recently it just stopped working, like the screen will come on, but it would be fuzzy and then say to turn the camera on and off. I think it may have gotten wet when my friends were using it. Is there anyway it could be fixed?

    • Re[2]: Sony DSC MVC camera repairs Alex - 2nd Oct 2005 16:12
Kevin, It should be fixable, but I can't give you exact estimate until I take a look and troubleshoot it. Please email me for details if interested.

    Dear sir:
My Sony MVC-CD400 camera works beautifully when connected to its 120VAC charger, but will not accept a charge, with either of my "INFOLITHIUM NP-FM M Series" batteries. When configured in the charging mode, the orange charging
light blinks continuously. With either battery in place the camera will not
    operate.
Would you kindly advise me on repair/replacement options. I purchased this camera more than two years ago.
    Thanks in advance.
    FBQ.

  • Bro. two questions Carlos Amaya - 13th Oct 2005 20:05
i just would like to know how to connect an AC-DC adapter directly to the MVC-FD71 camera, i know its possible, just want to know how, and want to know if the MVC-FD71 camera supports Memory Stick Floppy Disk Adapter to put a Memory Stick to work on it...any suggets will be much appreciated..Thanx

    • Re: Bro. two questions Alex - 14th Oct 2005 1:54
I think: AC/DC - not possible Floppy memory stick adaptor - should work. But better check user manuals for exact answers.

I own a Sony dsc-w1 digital camera. The battery compartment lid locking mechanism is broken. (The plastic locking points have chiped so the battery lid does not lock securely.) Can the lid be replaced? If yes, what will be the approximate cost?
