Re[2]: Cleaning my rear view projection television

linda Posted Apr 27, 2006, in response to:Mike R.

my god. my parents' crappy rca rear-projection 50+" hdtv has the same problem. watching the movements of the spiders inside the screen has become something of an obsession, a soap opera of sorts, esp. when we see them during baseball games (like on the pitcher's mound, so to speak). this shouldn't happen. did you find a remedy?

My Mitsubishi 52" has a back reflector that is on a hinge, so you simply remove the fixing screws and it swings inward. It gives access to the 3 lenses and you can clean the mirror and remove any pesky cobwebs too. If your projection TV is similar in design, you might want to check that out before you start trying to get at stuff from the speaker grille area (pretty dangerous in my case, exposed electronics!).
