Re: Sony DSC-S40 white LCD screen problem

Jack Posted Jan 31, 2007, in response to:Bob Allen

Hi Bob: Thanks for the tip. Actually when my daughter's DSC-S40 did the white screen thing, we did a "Fonzi" by hitting it on the table and it worked for awhile. When it happened again, anyway I hit it just would not fix it. So I gave up and bought a used S40 on ebay. When I received it yesterday it had the white screen thing when I first powered it on. I did another Fonzi to it and was working again. I disassembled the first one looking for something lose, I could not find anything, then after I reassembled it, the camera worked again! Now with 2 of these I might try a more permanent fix. I'll send an email to get the "Open the camera solution". Thanks from all the responses it looks like you found the right Fonzi for this one! Jack

I know alot of people are knocking the manufacturer over this one. But I have had many Sony products including a TRV740 Video camera. I had that TRV740 camera topple off the top of some bleachers while it was on a tripod and crash onto a basketball floor. It is still working, and that was just one of many times it got dropped. I have had several other Sony products and I must say that design defects are rare, but as we have seen with this particular DSC-S40 they do happen. For what its worth. Jack
